Nonis is a genius:
Toronto Maple Leafs trade David Clarkson (F) to Columbus Blue Jackets for Nathan Horton (F).

The idea was reportedly proposed by Columbus, but yes, it couldn't have worked out better for either team. Brilliant transaction.

Im a leafs fan so i'm obviously very happy with this trade this cap space could give us a lot of different options going forward so I really hope we don't waste it.

As for Nonis I hate that people are calling him a genius when he was the one that signed Clarkson to that contract. I understand that during that offseason there was a lot of pressure on Nonis to get a deal done but if you looked at Clarkson's stats before his breakout out year they weren't that great. They should have known they weren't getting a second line winger instead they were getting an aging bottom six type guy. Nonis is also really lucky he's on the richest team in the league or else he would have never had this option. All together I think Toronto needs to look for a gm that can take the pressure of being in Toronto and evaluate players better so they can avoid contracts like Phanuefs deal and so that they can avoid signing players like Clarkson in free agency.
