-Byfuglien using this leave of absence to ponder his hockey future. As tweeted out by Bob McKenzie. Would be a massive blow to Winnipeg if he was to retire or not be all there this season. With already losing Myers and a Trouba, their D without Buff would be one of the worst in the league.
And with the central being so strong and the other problems with a Liane and Connor, They need to get their stuff together soon!
Does this Buff and Liane issue make Winnipeg want to trade Laine for D help even more?

-Rantanens agent says “not close at all” with contract negotiations.

-Calgary and NJ were talking about a possible Brodie for Coleman swap. Would save $2.8M for Calgary to sign Tkuchuk would be a huge blow to the back end but they need some money somehow. What a steal and addition for NJ that would be.

I also read that Laine and Rantanen have the same agent and he said it was not close for both players in regards to balancing term and AAV.

I think with how things have gone so far and seem to be going, A 3 year deal for both, Rantanen $9M and Liane $7-7.5M. That’s just what I would try to do as the team.
Rantanen def worth more as the more well rounded player for sure. Rant could even get more $$ for more longer term. $10M for 7/ 8 years could be great for both sides there.

Anyone know any rumoured numbers asked or offered by either sides there?
I was actually surprised at the $$ number for Boeser and Mcavoy. Two great deals.

Now Maurice's refusal to play Niku, Nogier and Poolman a bit over the last 2 seasons is coming to haunt this team. Now we have Morrissey and an group of 7/ 8 caliber d-men and rookies who Maurice won't play. Laine and overpaid Little have zero chemistry yet Maurice forces them to play together and trade for a #2 center for the playoffs. I hate to say this but the Jets are a mess and unless they are able to change some things they will not make the playoffs.

If Buff retires it’s an interesting position for the Jets as I believe I read they would be under the cap floor. And need to sign one of the wingers right away. I forgot what I read about penalties and all that, it seems like a complicated scenario.
If Buff doesn’t play this year that’s Buff, Trouba, Myers and Chariot. 4 of the top 5 minute D men from last season. Pretty big change.
