Nylander is way over paid for what he brings to his team, now. This could change if he rebounds and becomes a 70 point player. He's a winger not a center and until he can prove he can play at the center position the Jets wouldn't want to take on that contract for what this trade calls for.

I'm not even a Leafs fan but can we just chill out on Nylander?

Dude has been a stud in every league he played in. Highest PPG % on his team while being 18 and playing in a league filled with men that have lots of NHL experience (14-15 Marlies) . He's a 20G 40A centre that's only just turned 23. Special teams specialist too.
