Look at Terms of all Contracts and it really makes sense for both Teams.

Yeah, that’s a faaaaaaaat no from Van. Considering Marleau only has I think one year left on his deal, he has a lot more value than Eriksson, but Zaitsev’s 4.5 for another 6 years is BRUTAL, so brutal that I’d take the last 3 years of Erikssons deal over it every day of the week.

And obviously Marleau doesn’t serve much value to the Canucks as we have enough ‘veteran’ 3rd liners as it is, so lost story short, one year of Marleau isn’t even close to enough incentive to take on an extra three years of a bad contract in Zaitsev.

Zaitsev is a good 5th dman and is about a million overpaid. Ericksson is about 4 million overpaid. One of the worst contacts in the game aside from Lucic and debatably Seabrook.

Yeah, but like I said, Eriksson has 3 less years than Zaitsev which makes his contract a lot less detrimental. Sorry, but in an Eriksson for Zaitsev swap, Leafs add big.

Canucks have shown interest in Zaitsev for whatever reason, however what makes you think leafs would want a washed up Eriksson when teams are already willing to take on Zaitsev + a sweetener?
