Jets go all in while they have cap space this year

OTT: Stone (50% Retained), Duchene (50% Retained)
WPG: Vesalainen, 1st Round Pick 2019, 1st Round Pick 2020, Petan, Comrie, Harkins

Basically the Jets give up 3 1st Rounders and 3 2nd Rounders. Ottawa retains both salaries so the Jets can fit them under this years salary cap.

Connor - Schiefele - Wheeler
Laine - Duchene - Stone
Perrault - Lowry - Tanev
Ehlers - Little - Copp
Extra: Roslovic

Way too much for a rental. This team is built to be very good for several years and shouldn't sacrifice their future for 2 rentals that may not help them won the cup.

Jets would have to be considered the favourites to win after this though.

Jets don’t strike me as the gambling type. They’ve been pretty resourceful building the team using picks and prospects instead of through trades, which always carries extra risk because you lose assets from your side in a trade.

I could almost see Jets making this trade happen. They don’t really lose anybody off the current roster, and other than Vesalainen, none of the prospects are all that highly rated. So even though it’s a bit of a depth killer for a couple rentals, it’s still an attractive offer for Jets.

I think the jets will have no problem trading away one 1st round pick, but not two AND their top prospect. I think the jets will make minimal changes to their roster but they probs will try to get one top player for their cup run. Stone or Duchene obvs will both help out the jets but only one of them or somebody else i'm sure will be traded for.

Would love this trade! Reality is they would be okay with 1 of the 2. Lemieux is playing too well to be taken out of lineup. Comrie and Petan won't get a chance with the Jets so give them opportunity elsewhere. Vesalainen has a poor attitude which is why he went to the KHL. Harkins is a full time AHL'er. Someway to work in Kulikov and his contract would even be better.

Go Jets Go.

Take away a 1st and I think that’s the best offer Winnepeg gets.

Far, far too much to give up for a couple rentals. I could see the first this year being available and even the prospects you mention except for Vesalainen. I highly doubt Ves will be available as the Jets will need his ELC.

If Ottawa retains anything on either they get a better package plain and simple, Winnipegs 1sts are nothing but bonified high 2nd rounders thus. To your logic stone and Duchene both Beith traded virtually for 3 2nds a piece which don't even come close to their value signed or not.
