Rumor was Florida and Edmonton were working on another trade deal if Cam Talbot would waive his no trade to 10 teams clause of his contract which Florida is reported to be one of those teams. Not sure if this deal is dead now with Edmonton GM being fired.

Goalie Cam Talbot and Defenseman Oscar Klefbom to Florida Panthers

Goalie James Reimer, Forward Nick Bjugstad, and Defenseman Mark Pysyk to Edmonton Oilers

However, I don't see this deal happening now due to the circumstances but keep an eye on Edmonton and Florida. There is another trade is the mists besides the Petrovic for Wideman deal.

Well good thing Chiarelli’s gone because that package isn’t worth losing Klefbom IMO. And Reimer coming back makes no sense.

Reimer never played as an Edmonton Oiler. So not sure what you mean about coming back? He was only in Toronto, San Jose and Florida. Secondly, at this point Reimer and Talbot's trade values are pretty much equal because they are both equally mediocre this season and are unwanted in most of the league's teams. But, Reimer is accepting as a backup goalie role for Mikko Koskinen. Talbot is not. I think that's the difference maker why Edmonton wants Reimer. Proven backup for Koskinen. Talbot wants to be the number one goalie.

With Talbot and Reimer trade value basically cancelling each other out, the real question to this deal would be, is Oscar Klefbom (who is still injured by the way) worth being traded for Nick Bjugstad and Mark Pysyk? Would it help Edmonton right away with two ready players on the lines compared to one injured player on IR?

I don’t know how you can say Talbot and Reimer have equal value . Reimer has 2 more years at a high cap hit for a back up . Reimer could go on waivers and not get claimed in my opinion he has zero value.

I mean he shouldn’t be involved in the trade. The Oilers don’t need to trade for him. Talbot can possibly bring something back the Oil actually want. There’s going to be a big goalie market this summer and the Oil might even have a goalie in the AHL that can handle back up.
