Shattenkirk hasn't really panned out on Broadway and I believe the Rangers would bite on this Trade proposal, for the Leafs they get a better Defenceman having an off year that will help more than Zaitsev on the backend.

Thoughts?

I can't see the Rangers wanting Zaitsev or Timashov as part of this package. The Leafs will have to give up some quality to improve their weak defense. Maybe a 1st and either Sandin or Liljegren would do it as Shattenkirk would be an upgrade in the Leafs defense.

Given Shattenkirks struggles throughout most of the season and how much he’s paid, leafs definatley shouldn’t give Sandin/ Liljegren and a 1st. That’s definatley an overpayment for what shattenkirks brings. He’s a offensive minded d man and that’s really not what he leads need in a d man anyways. There are better options out the for the leafs. Sounds like Dante Fabbro will join the preds after his ncaa season is over and if he can make the preds team straight outta school he’d definatley be a upgrade for the leafs. I’d propose nylander for fabbro and ‘19 1st. That’s give the leafs a young and good right handed d man and another pick and Nashville gets more scoring. Leafs also gain that cap space for next year as well as get nylander outta the eastern conference.

If Rangers could get a 1st for Shattenkirk, I think it already would have happened by now.
