Spin on the Nylander sweepstakes.

Toronto Trades: William Nylander (RW [Extension] - 7.5 Million x 7 Years) + Josh Leivo (LW - 0.675 Million x 1 Year) + Eamon McAdam (G - 0.925 Million x 1 Year) + Justin Holl (RD - 0.625 Million x 2 Years) + 2019 3rd Round Pick.

Chicago Trades: Henri Jokiharju (RD - 0.925 Million x 3 Years) + Brandon Saad (LW - 6.00 Million x 3 Years) + John Hayden (RW - 0.750 Million x 2 Years) + Jan Ruuta (RD - 2.25 Million x 1 Year) .

Chicago is on an eight game losing streak. They just fired one of the best coaches in franchise history, and still are losing. Bowman may need to make a last ditch effort to save the team. Saad is definitely in the doghouse in Chicago and could use a change of scenery. His cap makes him less valuable, however, he could rebound making what Ny SHOULD make in Toronto. Jokiharju is the big piece, a young RHD who is playing well on a bad team. However, if Chicago wants to bring in a stud like Ny, either Boqvist or Joki is going the other way. Hayden is a grinder who could be nice in Toronto’s bottom six, and Rutta could help take some pressure of Hainsey every game.

As for Chicago, they acquire a stud first line winger to compliment Toews, or a solid 2C to compliment Patrick Kane. He could be a 60-70 point guy easily, and could give some more offensive depth to Chicagos top heavy team. Replacing Saad with Nylander is a big upgrade, despite the downgrade on defence. Leivo and Holl are decent enough depth guys, and the 3rd is good for Rutta.

I like how you targeted Chicago here. Big changes coming there for sure. You know what else I really like is how you always include salaries beside each player. Makes it so much easier to assess your posts. I always enjoy reading your posts because they are so well thought out.

My take in this trade is that Saad’s contract is a real boat anchor. I would be loathe to take that on if I was Leafs management. If we do Chicago that favor, then Jokiharju or Boqvist would have to be incuded to make this trade a reality.

I don’t like the idea of Saad as the cap dump to make salaries work, but love the idea of snagging Boqvist or Jokiharju. I’m not sure Chicago is looking at dumping their young stars yet. More likely an aging Keith or Seabrook get traded to cap floor team first. But if this proposal was floated, Leafs would have to seriously consider it I would think.

No way Chicago sells the future to get rid if sadd, he's outta quenvilles doghouse so expect him to start producing, of course leafs would consider, same production sadd- nylander for cheaper, plus a huge upgrade on the garbage coming back, no brainer for leafs.
