Detroit Trades: Jonathan Ericsson (2 years, 4.250 million)

New Jersey Trades: 3rd 2019 (ANA), Conditional 3rd 2020 (2nd if Devils Re-sign Ericsson)

Detroit reason: Clears cap and makes room for Hronek or Hicketts to crack the roster.

New Jersey Reason:Gets Veteran Swedish Defenseman to help mentor and anchor Severson. Fills the gap left by Moore and they have enough cap space to try him out for this year and next.

Is the value fair? Too much? Too little?

Don’t usually see ‘condition on signing’ with 2 years left. That would be entering his final season, deadline of final season or trading his rights after the season.

Thanks for the feedback.

@unbiasedjim You make a good point about conditions. Maybe the condition could be play related.

@Hotguybabes

Ericsson is a decent Defenseman who may succeed with a change of scenery. Also his term is much lower which makes his contract more tolerable. New Jersey also has cap space and a need for Defenseman. Adding depth like Ericsson for picks can certainly help them push to make the playoffs again. They may not go far but deeper defense can help get you I’m.
