2 trades to benefit AZ and get them back into the playoffs.

• (D) Jason Demers
• (LW) Milan Lucic
• (C) Kailer Yamamoto

• (C) Dylan Strome
• (2019) 1st-Round Pick
• (RW) Nick Merkley
• (D) Erik Karlsson (agreement to resign)
• (RW) Bobby Ryan

Richard Panik - Derek Stepan - Clayton Keller
Brendan Perlini - Alex Galchenyuk - Michael Grabner
Christian Dvorak - Brad Richardson - Bobby Ryan
Milan Lucic - Marcus Kruger - Christian Fischer

Oliver Ekman-Larsson - Erik Karlsson
Jakob Chychrun - Nick Hjarlmarsson
Alex Goligoski - Kevin Connauton

IMO playoff ready. Adds veteran presence, a franchise defender and a solid prospect who could make the roster and kick out Fischer outta his roster spot slotting bobby ryan to the 4th line.

Sorry Billy but even adding Karlsson, the line up still looks weak to me. The entire forward group is average and Panik as the #1 LW? Looks like another high pick for the coyotes. I must say, you are a trade proposal machine. You post more trades per day than most people have in 5-6 years. Some decent ones too. Good job!

I've read it Karlsson goes to Dallas, Ryan won't be part of the deal but who knows.

I believe Arizona won’t take on cap space I believe if not signed they will put a huge offer sheet in on Mathews next year.

I think leafs fear a cpl offer sheets on Matthews and won’t let it get to that point. I kinda expect he signs in the next few weeks. Then marner might play out the last year of his ELC.

Leafs would match a 15.9mil Max for Mathews they’ll just trade lesser players like Marner, Nylander, Tavares And Rielly to fit him.

Lucic won’t play 4th line lol he won’t waive for that.

Offer sheets have to be signed by the player they are targeting.

Do you seriously think Matthews would sign an offer sheet with Arizona? Leave a team that is going to be a cup contender for the foreseeable future to go to one of the doormats of the NHL that has no certain future?

The Leafs are going to pay Matthews very well. He will make a fortune in endorsements playing in Toronto. Money is not going to be an issue for him. Or any of his future children, grandchildren, or great grandchildren for that matter.

This just seems like a ridiculous discussion, also given the fact that offer sheets almost never happen in the first place.

@Unsportsmanlike, you’re exactly right. The ‘playing at home’ thing is an attractive thing for some players, as shown by Tavares this week. But that’s only one aspect. Like when stamkos was available and he chose the contender in TB over TOR who was very early in the build. Now we are ready to compete and Tavares comes in. Matthews might want to play in ARI one day, but I highly doubt its in the next 5-6 years. If Arizona is a really good team when he’s 27, we might have a problem then.

Matthews is not worth 15.9 where the hell did you get that number from hahaha.

Although Nylander and Marner will for sure need to be traded if they want to keep Matthews.

I think Arizona actually has a bright future if they can pull it together. Lots of high draft picks.

No McJesus, neither Nylander or Marner have to be traded if they want to keep Matthews.

The only current player who may need to be traded is Marleau, and not this season (and perhaps not at all, if Marner and Nylander are bridged, but I think Toronto would be better off signing them long term) . Signing Nylander and Marner longer term will carry a higher cap hit and necessitate moving Marleau for the last year of his contract (2019-20 season) . After his bonus is bonus is paid, he will only carry a $4 mln salary and would be easy to move to a team looking to reach the cap floor.

Dubas was on the radio today saying they’re keeping them all and I don’t doubt it. They can do it. Secondly @mcjesus 15.9 million is the max contract allowed. That’s “where the hell VBB got that number from” lol it’s a way of saying he’s not going anywhere. Didn’t think it was hard to figure that out, especially or an informed guy like you! It’s not a made up number, it’s 20% of cap. And you know why leafs can keep these players?! Because their GM isn’t chirelli signing Lucics and trading away $6 million hart trophy winners.

Wtf McJ? Do you really think they would sign Tavares to lose Nylander and Marner? I could see trading one for a good defenseman but that’s it.

Exactly the leafs would match any contract that’s what I was saying. And no they certainly wouldn’t have to trade either they can Sign Marner and Mathews comfortably to around 18 million and still have plenty of room with Horton on LTIR. They should bridge Nylander tho to a Kucherov similar just in case a player like Paryanko becomes available.

On the NHL talk page I did a comparison between 2019 leafs and 2014 penguins in relation to percentage of cap used on top players. Look at that. I tried putting it in this page but it was placed there.
