Tampa: Tyler Johnson and Ryan Callahan

Montreal: 5th round pick.

Tampa-Clears over 10 mil in cap space to sign Tavares

Montreal- gets a stop gap 1c and a nice veteran Center for almost free

Not the worst thing I have ever seen.

Callahan has negative value. Johnson could bring in a late first.

Montreal would take that and run.

Great for Tampa too. Frees up so much money to spend and a roster spot for one of them up and comers as they have a good depth of prospects.

And I actually think this is bad for Montreal. Spending that much money on those two, is just bad. They aren't difference makers. Johnson would be a good #2 center for them but they would make him play 1st line I bet because they have no other choice. They keep trying to make these 2nd and 3rs line players play bigger roles. Adding $10M or so and not really getting that much better to make a huge difference is bad. Just seems like a desperate move to try and do anything. Just tare down and rebuild insead of desperate moves.

I don't think it's too far off and makes sense for both teams. The only issue is getting Callahan to waive his NTC to go to that high-tax dumpster fire.

Pretty good trade, except Callahan would have to waive to go to that high-tax dumpster fire.
