It's a bit of an overpayment from Toronto but Hamilton is a big 6'6 RHD and is 24 years old signed to an awesome contract, also he is exactly what toronto needs. Hamilton puts up solid points as a defender and has a good shot. Guessing Hamilton isn't available but if you want him, you would have to pay. Comparable value would be Jacob Trouba. Then Flames have a chance to take a run at Erik Karlsson if they aren't stuck on paying their players less then Giordano still, would much rather have EK than Gio. But Flames also get a good playmaker to play with Gaudreau and Monahan who would be a way better fit then Ferland. Also Hamilton is from Ontario and Nylander is from Calgary. Flames also get a 1st round pick which they want.

Toronto gets their much needed RHD dman on a good contract and who fits their young team. Calgary gets a scoring need and a 1st round pick plus a good depth player.

Dougie is very inconsistent yes he’s a big need for the leafs but he’s a big goof on skates.

No way from toronto. Hamilton didn't have a stellar year last year, i'm not trading an elite piece plus two good pieces for him, lol. Nylander + small add is more fair.

Value wise is terrible from the Leafs POV. That package could land a much better dman like Jones or Eklblad.

Inconsistent? What. Did you guys even watch him play last year. This site is brutal for one sided fans. He’s one of the best in the league offensively.

As a leaf fan I would trade Nylander and the 25th overall pick for Hamilton in a heartbeat. Adding kapanen is an overpayment.

@top shelf swappers: bad year for Hamilton? Is that what you call a D that had the most goals in the league from a Defensman? You should get to know other teams and their players a whole lot better.
