I don't know if this is good or not. The way Sparks has been playing. He is looking like he could be an NHLer. Carolina needs a goaltender for the team to move into that next level, and they have a strong defence with or without faulk. I could see those two being the start of a deal at the very least.

Martin could also be good for them. He is a good leader and that is something the Huricanes could use. They also have about 20million in cap space next season, so taking on that salary is no big deal for them.

Instead of throwing carrick in the mix, who I think should stay and play on the 3rd pairing with dermott see about having Carolina take a few bodies off our hands and give them a couple of nice draft picks like those two 2nd rounders for thier trouble.

Carolina says no, faulk is an all star caliber defence and the return here is garbage. A ahl goalie, a fourth line plug and a defence that likely won't crack the canes top four. can't see it being anywhere close.

Sparks is the real deal people and they need a Goaltender for the future.
Faulk is good but not an AllStar Dman.
Add both 2nd Round Picks in 2018 to sweeten the deal if need be.

I mean from a leafs perspective you could be giving up on a really good goalie that would be a nice buffer if andersen starts to decline. For someone we likely can't afford in a few years.

Toronto is built to be well coached and outscore there defensive deficiencies. Babcock will find some hardworking defense prospects think hyman brown but on defense. That will sign team friendly deals. We don't need faulk. We have enough offensive defenseman yes the value probably favours toronto now but will it in 5 years?
