I've made 3 Simmonds trades in the past. Replies stated that one of them one far in favour of the Flyers, one trade didn't get enough for him and the other got mixed reviews which I guess is sort of good if i think about but I'll just try some more

PHI: Simmonds (50% retained because I believe Blues can't take his full contract), 3rd round pick

STL: Kostin, Barbashev, conditional second round pick (turns into 2019 First if Blues make it to the Cup)

PHI: Simmonds, 4th round pick

MTL: Galchenyuk

PHI: Simmonds

TOR: Kapanen, 1st round pick

PHI: Simmonds

NSH: Tolvanen, 3rd round pick

As I was typing these they seemed fair but then when I compared all the returns, the value didn't seem equal so I already know some of it it's off. But just curious what you would change to the offers while keeping the base of the trade intact

First of all, I don’t know why Philly would want to trade Simmonds. They are battling for a playoff spot and he is a very important piece to their team. Anyways, I don’t know enough about the players from St. Louis or Nashville to comment. With age difference considered I don’t think the trade for Galchenyuk is bad but I’d still keep Simmonds for another year and decide what to do then. As a leaf fan I would do that trade. Simmonds is exactly what the the leafs need. Babcock doesn’t seem to care about physicality but when the playoffs start, things get rough. The leafs have a lot of young talent but will get man handled by a team like Boston. I’d rather Toronto play Tampa just because they’re not as physical. I’m guessing you’re a Flyers fan, why do you want to trade Simmonds?

The flyers would want to trade him because they can't afford a resign in 2 years and they'd get the most value this deadline. Simmonds 2 years left on that sweet contract will draw a bunch of reward.

The thing about these trades is that they can all be done in the offseason so they can essentially make a playoff push with him this year and trade him in the offseason. I just feel trading him to a team at the deadline could get you more considering the team would be using him for two playoff runs instead of 1. As for why I want to trade him. Personally I think he's overrated by a lot of people. Not too much but the fact that many Flyers fans called Schenn a powerplay specialist yet never said anything remotely close to that regarding Simmonds surprises me considering the amount of his production coming on the powerplay in recent years. Yes he was better than Schenn during their tenures here but they were very similar. The main reason I would want him gone is because he's a free agent next year and he'll be looking for big money. Guys like him don't usually play too well when they reach their mid 30s and I don't want to be the team to pay him all that money. So better to get something than nothing. Not to mention we'll also have to sign some younger guys.

I get what you're saying, as a Flyers fan as well I love Simmonds and wish we could keep him but my opinion is get paid as much as possible. Kapanen and a 1st or Tolvanen and a 3rd! You won't get that if next year, having three 1st this year could let them go get an Evander Kane or a guy like OEL and Kapanen fills Simms spot.
