Read this in an article, thought I’d share. Honestly don’t know anything about Labanc so I can’t really comment but like i said I read this so not my idea. I believe it was one of those change of scenery trades.

Oil: Slepychev

Sharks: Labanc.

Solid post. Realistic and both have the same value

I’m a season ticket holder in Barrie where LeBanc played his junior. In his last season there, him and Mangiapane put on a clinic. A cpl 100+pts seasons for him and one was like 130 i think. I know that doesn’t always translate, but he has 40+ pts in 90 nhl games. Slepy has like 14 in 70. I also know points aren’t everything, but both these players were meant to be offensive threats so I think it has to matter quite a bit. Only big advantage is obvious size for Slepyshev but sharks have a ton of size on their team both with the old core of burns and Thornton and with young guys like hertl and Meier. Don’t see why they would really downgrade skill that much for a bit of size.

And even at the AHL level, lebanc put up 1.1 points per game. Slepyshev is just over half that at .53. I don’t see how a GM could do it and think it’s a good plan unless he knows something about lebanc that doesn’t show up to the fans. Who’s article was it?

Well I like it, solid right handed winger capable of playing anywhere in the top 9, the thing you may need to acknowledge though is how high Sharks value Labanc compared to, cause I know his play is a tad inconsistent, but also young, and his numbers are solid for a 22 year old who’s place in the lineup isn’t solidified.

Jim it was from a edmonton based blogger who brought this up.
And okay ya I don’t know anything about Labanc but makes sense for sharks to keep him if he’s more skilled.
