Canucks: Gudbranson

Leafs: Brown, Pickard, 2018 3rd round pick

Canucks get a young forward who has upside as well as a goalie, a position they've been struggling in especially as of late.

Leafs get a solid stay at home D who is only paid $3.5M and who is still relatively young with time to still grow his game further.

Gubdranson's game is where it's at. Don't see it getting much better as he pretty much developed.

And eh. maybe. Brown should be a good addition to them since they lack on good forwards. No need for them to get Pickard though.

Maybe remove Pickard and upgrade that 3rd to a 2nd?

The problem is Gudbranson is a UFA. So he's a rental and he hasn't played particularly well. He has been dealing with injuries too. If Vancouver can get Rychel and a 2nd. I would take that deal. Maybe you could add a clause where they get anothe 2nd if he signs.

@VanCity

Eh, we've seen teams pay more for a pending UFA just to upgrade their team going into the playoffs.

Usually if a tram pays more to than this to upgrade the team with a rental it’s a much higher end player than Gudbranson tho. Like paying prospects and high picks for shattenkirk or Ladd etc. They don’t always work out, but those guys were expected to come in and be top pairing or top line contributors for a playoff run. Gudbranson is a good depth option. I would happily add him to the leafs, but wouldn’t want to pay more than a decent prospect and a 2nd.
