Winnipeg can get a younger defenceman on the left side and they build towards next year. Tampa gets an older proven veteran defenceman plus another depth forward for a long playoff run this upcoming spring.

How does this make sense for TB? They already have 8 NHL defensemen and after this trade they still have 8.
Hedman, Stralman, Sergachev, Coburn, Dotchin, Girardi, Koekkoek and Sustr. Plus the salary thing, makes zero sense.

Sustr would be the one to go, btw.
