Sustr may not be in the lineup but Tampa still won't do you a favour in taking that bad Shaw contract for him. Tampa has enough overpaid bottom 6ers right now.

Shaw is not a cap dump but a useful gritty middle six winger. He has some value although it's not that high because he's well paid I admit. But far from overpaid. he's worth it. I would rather keep him then trade him for basicly spare parts. Sorry but Sutra hasn't proved anything Shaw has.

Anaheim laughs hysterically at the first one.

Hahaha oh man. Shaw isn't middle six man he's bottom 6. he's over paid its not a good contract. I could elaborate more on how personnel wise its a terrible deal for Tampa, as it would commit close to 25 mill for their bottom six/ healthy scratch and he may not even crack the lineup consistently. i'm not saying Sustr is good. Ill never say that. But he's on a one year 2 mill deal and Bolts are going to need the cap space sooner than later. he's also not going to block Cirelli Stephens Erne Howden and Volkov for the next 4 years.

Cap space is an asset for sure. So suster not being good, but being gone at the end of the year regardless is worth more than Shaw on its own. The fact Shaw has 4 years left makes It a hell no. The perry for patches thing I just don't see the point for either team. Ducks get the younger scoring winger, but he also only has a year left before he walks or gets massively overpaid. Perry has slipped but they still know what they have in him, he likes it there and they have a mutual commitment. Don't see the point.

Bo problem jb will keep Shaw then. Man Shaw is the reason why Gallagher is expendable. He brings gritty and passion like nobody else. Any team would give at least a good prospect for him and maybe plus. Like I'm not trying to get into a argument. All I'm trying to say is that Shaw has proven himself to be what he is. And nobody can take that away from him. Give the guy respect man he earned it.

Theres a place for gritty players. But its in the bottom 6. You can find them in the AHL and middle rounds of the draft. I personally don't think grit is worth 4 mill its a mindset and a lot of players can have it. The shift to grit is also one of the things that's weakened Tampa past couple of years. They have Killorn Kunitz Callahan Dumont Paquette and Brown who don't bring much more than grit at the forward position and Gourde whose a pest and whose offense is yet to be seen. Shaw doesn't help them.

Agree with jbs. There's a place for grit but heart, work ethic and grit is able to be found for less than 4mill. I can see a team filled with young kids like leafs last year, or by the looks of it, New Jersey this year willing to overpay a bit for that. But habs with Weber, price, patches etc and lightning with stamkos, Hedman, Johnson etc have more than enough players that produce far more for their money who also know what it takes and how hard you have to work to succeed. Teams like that shouldn't need that expensive of an example.

the deal isn't that bad for what he brings and being a two time cup champ. it may not look that great atm because he's been injured or playing hurt pretty much since he's come here. it was a fair deal at the time it was signed and may still be yet.
