John Tavares and Nikolai Kulimen to the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for Tyler Johnson, Slater Koekkoek, Cal Foote, Eric Condra, a 2018 1st Round Pick and a 2019 2nd Round Pick.

Tampa Bay gets a 1/ 2 punch down the middle that will be the rival of only Pittsburgh, and could propel Tampa to their second Stanley Cup in Franchise history.
Tavares, Stamkos, Hedman and Kucherov will be unrivalled.

New York gets a replacement centre in Johnson, who is a step down, but it is still possible that he hits 50-60 points. Cal Foote was a first rounder, who could possibly become a solid top 4 dman. Slater Koekkoek could be a good top 6 dman, who could become better as he matures. A 1st is always nice, and getting rid of Kulimen is a plus.

*This trade would only happen at the deadline. Right now, New York holds the leverage, and obviously, Tavares would garner more. However at the deadline, if Tavares obviously doesn't want to stay, its better to get something, than nothing for him. It will be less, but this is still something.

Ya Tampa doesn't touch that without a decent value extension in place. that's an absolute ton to give up. I realize it would take a lot to get Tavares but all that for a half season?

@jbs

Could get you a cup tho. I mean, Tavares is a huge boost over Johnson.

Plus, the big pieces are Foote, a 1st and Johnson. Isn't that kinda similiar to everyone else posting like Galchenyuk/ Juulsen/ 1st? only reason i went with TB instead is because Tavares to TB makes them more of a legitimate cup contender than Tavares to MTL.

Either extension in place and even then it's debatable whether - from a TB point of view - giving up all those assets is worth grading up from TJ to JT OR simply go after him in the off-season without giving up anything.
