After the Thomas Vanek signing, Vancouver has way too many forwards. The biggest name brands (Daniel and Henrik Sedin) are free agents after this season, and are unlikely to return to the rebuilding club. So here is my trade offer (s) ;

Trade 1.

D. Sedin + H. Sedin to the New York Rangers in exchange for R. Nash + S. Day + 2018 2nd Round Pick + 2018 4th Round Pick.

- New York needs a centre, and Henrik Sedin provides that.
- Daniel Sedin provides a deadly left side for New York (Himself, Kreider, Vesey, Buch)

- Vancouver is not going to get a first round pick for each Sedin, they're values have dipped.
- Rick Nash can be flipped for more assets if salary is retained; Sean Day is a wild card dman, who could possibly be really good, and the second is pretty good value.

Trade 2.

R. Nash (50% Salary Retention) to the Washington Capitals in exchange for a 2018 2nd Round Pick + 2020 3rd Round Pick.

With the retention (&the brand name buy), a 2nd and 3rd is a fairly reasonable return for Rick Nash.


- In full; Daniel and Henrik Sedin (with 3.6 million in retention) for Sean Day, two seconds and a third and a fourth. Decent. Maybe a bit much, but idk.

Sedins aren't going anywhere, you can't retain 4/ 3 players from the sedins, Vancouver has the forwards to create a competition for the prospects to make them earn a spot on the roster.

Sedin's are not getting traded. They have a bunch of forwards but I believe that they won't even be picked up on waivers. So to trade NHL caliber player and play fringe AHL players will not get fans in the arena. Vancouver need to sell tickets and the Sedin's do that. Magna does not.

But right now, as it stands, Goldobin and Virtanen are on the outside looking in for top9 minutes. Somethings got to give. Both are NHL ready, especially Nikolai.

Goldobin has a hard time staying healthy. As for Virtanen I think he makes the team and Boucher gets put on waivers. Don't know if Dorsett is healthy enough to play. He might start the season on IR. I really don't think Goldobin is a top 6 NHL player. I might be wrong, I'm just not sold on him yet.
