Apparently, according to Mike Bossy, Tavares turned down his contract extension (84M$).

NYI:
John Tavares

MTL:
Alex Galchenyuk
Brendan Gallagher
2nd round pick (2018)
2nd round pick (2019)
Conditional 1st round pick 2019 (If Tavares resigns with MTL)

I'm a die hard jabs fan and you will more than likely have to throw Noah juulsen and it would be a sign and trade for sure Montreal would t give up that much without knowi he's signing or not.

Throw in juulsen and switch 2nd for first and it would have to be sign trade for Montreal to give up that much.

Deffinetly a lot to give up. As for adding Juulsen, i'd do my best not to add him. no he's not going to be a superstar. But Habs need all the defensive prospects they need. He will be a solid but not spectacular top 4 IMO.

Tavares is great but he's not worth all that. Especially with the money he will demand. Habs would have to pay him as much as price. So you'd have three players making 30 mil?
Plus why would he want to go to mtl. They will be in full rebuild mode in 2-3 years if that.

I'd rather Tavares go to a team like the Canes or Blue Jackets who have actually built properly unlike the Islanders.

Montreal would be a great fit for Tavares as much as I hate it from a leafs fan. Championships are built off a great goalie, a stud D and a legit top center. That would give habs all of that. As for the money, I've said it before that going forward, every team is going to be paying their best three players 25-30 mill, just reality now. Some teams are going to pay 3 forwards 25+ mill and still have glaring holes in net and on the blue line. Theirs would be 28 mill in the best goalie in the league, a 27 year old superstar center, and a beast of a number 1 Dman who is one of the best leaders in the game. Not a bad way to do it.

Thanks Sosa. Ppl got to get past the 10 million dollar player thing because like it's been pointed out, Crosby percentage wise was making the same as mcdavids 12.5 mill. So if penguins had sid, malkin (making even more than sid) and still had letang, fleury, Neal (then hornquist) Kessel etc etc then it can be done. Who wouldn't like their team to have pens success over the past decade? Giving players 10 mill isn't the problem, giving the wrong players that money will kill you tho. I think price and Tavares are about the safest bets you can make to give that kinda cash to at this point.

That didn't actually happen no numbers have been discussed.

Depends who you read. Some say numbers weren't discussed, some say numbers came up but weren't the reason for him rejecting. It could have been 12 mill per, but he isn't signing it till they sort out some other things. Could be wrong but I don't buy for a second that you're a cpl weeks away from camp of the final year of your captain/ best players contract, you have been eligible to give him an extension for 3 months and numbers haven't even been discussed at all. I know it's the islanders lol but doesn't seem possible to me.

There is ZERO chance this happens unless there is an agreement before hand that J. T. signs, and does so simultaneously. And relax, you don't need to through in Juulsen. This is a solif trade for both teams without Juulsen or the 1st rounder.

After that trade
Price
for
Eberle
1st-2019
1st-2020
DeHaan
Ladd

Sounds stupid, doesn't it. just like the one up top.
