Please explain who needs to add or how to improve on this trade.

Thank you Mike13isback. I thought I may get some push back because there are not any top line players nor 1st round picks going to Colorado. IMO Girgensons is just hanging on because he had one good 3/ 4 season and was selected to an all star game (I would have liked to see Buffalo resign Grigorenko and trade Girgensons) . McCabe is the best player of the group, who would really hate to lose, but now appears to be a 2nd line D-man. Ghule appears to be the same. Nylander is a conundrum, is he a top line player or too small to play in the NHL? A year in the AHL and 4 games with the Sabres leads me to be it is the latter.

can't be doubting Nylander already. 4 games and you think he's too small for the NHL? The kid has massive upside, pedigree and the way the league is now, he will be fine. He's listed at 6'1 179lbs, Marner is 6'0" 170. He's only a year removed from being drafted so he is in the exact spot Marner was a year ago. Marner just had 61 pts in his first 77 NHL games. Nylander could do get this year. If you're talented enough, and given a chance, the size means nothing anymore. I can only imagine what leaf fans would think if we traded Marner last year in a package for someone 8 years older and he did that for another team. Sabres have great pieces, just taking a little longer than hoped but they got to be patient with kids like Nylander.

Unbiased Jim thanks for the comments. If Nylander is 6.1 there are a lot of 7 foot NHL players. He looked very small when I saw him play. That being said, I just wanted to see what other people thought of the trade. As I said above I thought other contributors would think I was offering too little. BTW yes the rebuild is taking WAY too long, IMO Murray could hardly have done worse job rebuilding. Five years ago, hockey sports writers voted buffalo to win the cup this year, now I think they are predicting the Sabres to miss the playoffs this year. Not a very productive rebuild. Murray mis-handled so many assets, drafted poorly, asked for too much when trading Stewart and Moulson, and gave away too much in other trades.

Not terrible but seems like a bit too much from Buffalo for someone they don't exactly really need. Avs take this imo. Nylander is a top prospect for Buffalo and Guhle probably is their best defensive prospect. McCabe is no slouch either, seems like a good young top 6 D, potential top 4 guy for you. Girgensons probably doesn't have much value in this deal but would be an ok bottom 6 guy. Sabres already have a solid top 6 forward group of Eichel, Reinhart, ROR, Okposo, Kane (probably will walk next year) ( (Nylander and Middlestat coming up within the next few season) ) . Sabres should target someone like a Tyson Barrie (puck moving top 4 Dman) instead of a Duchene (1st line/ top 6 forward) .
