Easy no from Florida.

That's bad for Florida.

That doesn't get Matheson:

Man that's a lot to give up Bjustad is close to being a cap dump at this point. And although Matheson looks like he could be a solid bottom 4 dman I don't think I'd do this even if I owed Florida a favour.

Hab. if you wouldn't do that from habs stand point it's a good thing bergevin is their GM and not you. never thought I'd say that.

Yeah I know right cause bjustad has just looked awesome lately hasn't he? He is bordering between future 2nd liner or total bust.

It's a goalie that, at best, is prices back up for 8 years. A good AHL scorer. A 3rd rounder still in Sweden and a late first. For a real good 23 year old D and a 6'6 centrman coming off a bad year. The whole team had a bad year because the owners fired everyone with a hockey brain (tallon and gallant) and had an accountant telling people what to do. Tough conditions to play good hockey in. The only reason the habs would have a chance getting the 2 this cheap would be because of the bad season, can't be your only arguemenet against them.

It's not the only argument bjustad has never really had a good season yet and since his best year he has declined for the last 2 seasons. I don't think at this time it would be a good idea for any team to take on his contract if they have to give up some decent picks and prospects. Too much actual potential being give up by montreal in this trade to justify the risk or cap hit.

But you're not even mentioning Matheson. He's not a dump either. Habs 2 weak spots is D and C. This makes them better at both while losing no one who has made an impact for the team. Trading sergachev shows they aren't being patient. They wanna win now and they have to. This makes them deeper at the NHL level in their two weakest positions.

Yeah Matheson doesn't make the deal worthwhile IMO. He's ok but nothing I wouldn't be able to live without.

He doesn't have to be someone you can't live without to improve the team. Habs didn't have a deep D last year and have lost sergachev, emelin, beaulieau, nesterov and maybe Markov while bringing in Alzner and joe morrow. Don't need to be a superstar to make that situation better.
