FLA-TOR:

FLA: Jason Demers [3.75 mil (750K ret) ], + 2018 2nd round pick

TOR: Connor Brown (RFA), Marty Marincin (1.25 mil), + 2018 3rd round pick

Originally I was planning on Toronto sending the higher pick, but after listening to Leafs Lunch Craig Button and Frank Seravelli said Florida is willing to retain money and add a pick or prospect to part w Demers. The Panthers are additionally v weak on the RW w trades of Marchessault and Smith. Brown is a good player, but can be replaced by Kappanen in my opinion.
Leafs get a solid top 4 d-man and at 3.75 mil for 4 seasons that's pretty fantastic.

Don't think Toronto would go for this.

Isn't Demers a cap dump? Doubt teams are lining up to acquire Demers.

Ducks wanted Connor brown in any trade from the leafs for one of their D and that was one of the reasons nothing got done. Dave nonis drafted him in Toronto and is an assistant to Murray in Anaheim now. He's 22 and had a 20 goal rookie season playing great a 2way game and is one of Babcock favourites. If he is going to be included in a package for a D, it's going to be part of a bigger trade for a legit top pair. Not a cap dump.

Leafs hang up the phone before the Panthers finish talking. Brown > Demers.
