Rumor: Columbus sends 2017 1st round pick and a B prospect to Vegas for them to select David Clarkson.

It's a trade clarkson on the list of players you can't expose cause him injuries same as lupal I believe the trade also include they don't take Jenner if he is exposed and CBj is getting future consideration.

I find it odd that they'd give that much to get Vegas to take on Clarkson. I mean, it's not like they have to pay Clarkson once he goes on the LTIR. Though I'm assuming he'll just be sent to Robidas island every year from now until the end of his contract, but maybe Clarkson still wnats to play and will go to the PA if they try to put him on LTIR with one of those fake Lupul/ Robidas injuries. If that's the case, then I guess it'd make some sense.

CBJ is 2 million away from cap. They still need to sign Wennberg. Also a player can not be put on LTIR until somewhere around training camp, so they are desperate for cap space now.

Shankar, I believe the major issue with LTIR is that a player can only be placed on it after the season starts. Put differently, Columbus would have to be cap compliant at the start of the season with Clarkson's full cap hit then place him on LTIR. I'm pretty sure that's the way it works but not 100%. If so, there's a major benefit to getting rid of him.
