Wild can't protect all their young defense, ideally they should trade brodin, but they could get a better return for jarred spurgeon.

You'd think JVR for Spurgeon straight across would be close. But I could see Minny trying to dump some salary on top of that.

God NO . Please NO. Spurgeon is 5 foot 10 at best. Everyone thinks he is a good defenceman. But remember that Ryan Sutter plays all the hard mins on this team. Spurgeon is not what the leafs need. Let the 27 year old defenceman stay in Minny.
Now Dumba or Brodin. Now your talking.

I am not saying JVR and whatever will one of those 2. But that is what the leafs NEED.
Leafs can't bring on a older 5 million dollar defenceman. It will ruin there cap situation. They need to save cap space to sign Mathews Nylander and Marner.
So PLEASE no more talk about SPURGEON!

I think they will leave Scandella and Dumba unprotected.

Protect Suter, Brodin, Spurgeon.
But that package for Spergeon could entice them to say yes.
But then they still lose a decent forward with bringing in JVR who they would have to protect as well.
