Borje, I was reading something that people believe mcdavid won't take 12mil (or whatever high amount he could get) because he isn't going to be making double would Drat would make. Drats deal will solely depend on what Mcdavid will get but I think they are going to make it work where mcdavid is making more, but a respected amount more where Drat is fine with it. That's the only way they'll get deals that also help Oilers with cap.

Ideally you would want mcdavid to take 8 years x 10 mill and draisatl in the 7.5-8 range as long as he keeps up what he started. Mcdavid doesn't seem like the "I want 14 mill because that's what I'm allowed to ask for" kinda guy. Better to leave a little money for another support guy. Winning will be more important than money to mcdavid.

I think i heard friedman talkin bout that, except it was like Drais won't take 5 million less than McD, if McD gets like 12mil. Will be interesting to see how the oilers manage the cap with two stud forwards needing new contracts. However, i do see at least one of Sekera/ Ebs/ RNH/ Poulliot that is moved for cap reasons.

It will be interesting this summer. I can't see Mcdavid taking less than 12. THE players association pressures these guys to not accept too much of a discount.

Borje makes a good point. I remember reading that in the early 2000s and leading up to the lockout, the union wasn't happy because brodeur loved lamierello and New Jersey and always signed very reasonable. With him being the best in the league at the time, all other goalies were slotted in below his salary when it should have been much higher.
