Edmonton side - Kovalchuk wants to be with a winner, he is 34 years old and wants a Stanley cup before his time is out, after the second round exit Edmonton is due for another breakout season, pitting Kovalchuk on the wing of McDavid or even Draisatl will do wonders for both men involved. Also Its either going to be Nuge or Eberle going to be moved this off season. Based on the playoff performances I say that player would be Eberle. He'll have chem already in New Jersey with Taylor Hall and due for a breakout season. Also to add in Griffin Reinhardt to get value out of him before Vegas claims him in the expansion draft

New Jersey Side - Previously stated ^ Eberle will already have set chemistry with Taylor Hall. He's entering his prime and has a lot of years to flourish into the goal scorer he was meant to become. A better start can work wonders for him. And a player looking to be a bust in Griffin Reinhardt can find a new home in the lacklustre New Jersey defence and could possibly help his career.

And I think that's a pretty easy yes. Kovalchuk is leaving regardless, so trading him for a guy who just last year was playing unreal, and even with a horrible season to his standards he still topped 50 points and 20 goals. And no I'm not defending his season because it was horrible. This is a easy yes for devils. Borje is just a oiler hater.

Also to add, trading Reinhardt will make Vegas select Pouliot which is 4 mil off EDM cap, also with Fayne and Ference's contract out this off season Kovalchuk can get an easy 6-7 mil 2 year contract.
