I can't wait for the expansion draft to happen. It will be pretty interesting. I've been wondering things like this, Like if Edm could give them a 4th round pick or something to TAKE Pouliot. Same thing you're proposing.

I bet Las Vegas asks for a 2nd to take on bad contracts.
But another thing to remember is they need to meet cap requirements as well.

I read an idea that they could take 6-8 goalies and the. Control the goalie market in the off season and have bidding wars, thus gaining more assets. Lol
Now that would be shady, but kinda genius. And hey, having veteran guys like Plekanec and Pouliot on a brand new team wouldn't be a terrible thing. Especially when they help get to the cap floor big time. Haha.
Either way, This expansion draft will be super interesting!

It's honestly kinda smart in a sense to take a veteran with lots of experience on a new team. Yeah they have some cap but it's s brand new team and their term isn't too long.

You can't get anything for a goalie. Look what Bishop got. You can say Steve Y sold low. But at least he moved a goalie. Teams will just over spend on a UFA goalie. Controling a goalie market is dumb because there is no market.

I'd imagine almost zero chance players with NMC would waive to go to Vegas (I'm assuming a guy like Plekanec for example does), I just can't see most NHL players wanting to go live and play there.

For plekanec there is 3 option :

Bergevin trade him to any team for probably nothing during off season

Bergevin trade him to vegas with a 3rd or 2nd round to get his 6M salary out of Mtl cap space

Plekanec get buy-out.

You forgot one option the one that's actully going to happen. Pleky doesn't move and we wait till his contract end at the end of the season.
