Oil: Caleb Jones + Fayne + 2017 1st round

Avs: Barrie

Why for Edmonton? I think we all know why.

Why for Colorado? Clearly the core they have isn't working. Jones is a good prospect who played very well for USA world js and he's over a PPG in the WHL. Then Avs also get the Oilers first round pick this summer. I included Fayne because Oilers will need to shed some salary, and the Avs could use him to finish off the year and would be a cheap buyout next year if they choose to.

Oilers can also include Davidson. Improving LHD, very good contract.

So:
Jones + Davidson + Fayne (cap reasons) + 1st
For Barrie

This does not work for the Oilers. They already have their 3 protected Dmen this year and cannot trade these assets for a "rental" that will be plucked away in the Vegas draft.

After the Vegas draft in June, this may be more feasible.

Barrie wouldn't be a rental, he'd be a long term solution. I completely agree that the expansion would make oilers protect the 4 dmen and lose a forward, something I'd rather do than lose a defenseman.

Don't really think that's enough for him. He can get a better return. An alright prospect, a low 1st, and a cap dump. Doesn't sound pleasing to me

Avs would probably want something really good back from the oil not just a few top 6 defenders and a first round pick that will probably only get them a top 9 forward

Disagree. Poor choice to protect the 4 D and lose one of the "players of the week" Maroon. Oilers have to protect 3 D and get a UFA rental at the deadline to improve the D for the playoff run.

Oilers are situated perfect as they sit for the draft currently.

AFTER the Vegas draft "throwing in" Davidson is not in the cards. Barrie is doing poorly this year, so value isn't there for the assets proposed anyways.

MC Jesus Christ you over rating Caleb Jones yesterday he could get Juslsen today he's worth Barrie if Edm add their late first of a weak draft? . Colorado laughfs because Caleb is far from being his brother if he was remotely good, just because of his last name he would of been drafted in the top ten. Its the same concept of PK Subban and his brother Jordan. Caleb is probably never going to make the NHL if you want Barrie Nurse is going to have to be included.

^^Fair Trade4all said it perfectly. Oilers shouldn't be looking to add a top 4 dman with term until after the expansion draft

(Jones + Davidson + Fayne + 1st) for Barrie is a steal for Edmonton if they could pull it off. If Edmonton could acquire Barrie for the package before the expansion draft they do it in a heart beat. You can't tell me that they would protect Maroon over Barrie.
