S. Reinhart for T. Brodie + B. Pollock + Conditional 3rd 2018

*Condition - If Reinhart exceeds 60 points in the 2017-18 regular season then a 2nd in 2018 is transferred. If he posts less then 60 points then a 3rd in 2018 is transferred.

Why from Buffalo: They lack a true top pairing LHD to pair with Ristolainen. Kulikov and McCabe are not going to be top 2 and they don't have any top defensive prospects. Brodie is still young (Only 26) and still entering his prime. He is having a down season but that is in part to Calgary's slow start and being paired with Wideman. Reinhart will never be a center in Buffalo when Eichel and O'Rielly are healthy and won't even be a top line RW until Okposo starts to decline. They also get a decent prospect and pick to help with the rebuild.

Why from Calgary: They can give Reinhart an opportunity to center a line with Gaudreau or play wing on a line with either Monahan, Gaudreau or both. He joins their young offensive core and he chooses to play center then Bennett may be expendable as they have Gaudreau and Tkachuk on LW and bring in another defenseman. The addition of Pollock and the pick is to compensate for the 5 year age gap.

Calgary doesn't need another centre. Brodie is an elite defensman who is on one of the best deals in the NHL. He is easily worth Rienhart+.

I will admit Brodie is having a sub par year but that's after having 3 years of great to elite play.

Bennett is more comfortable at wing so they can move him to LW next to Mony and let Reinhart play center or let him play RW.

Not the worst idea, but from a Calgary perspective.
They don't need another center, this would leave the defense far to thin.
Plus, I'd rather a Gio trademyself. I think Brodie is s better D man, extremely underrated.
