Clb won't trade up a spot if they already know they'll get Laine.

Look at it this way, if you are Jarmo and you get approached with a trade request from Cheveldayoff to trade down you don't take it unless you get assets because you know they're just trying to get something from you. Otherwise, you let them pick who they're going to pick.

Just because Winnipeg may like Puljarvi more than Laine, doesn't mean that they won't take Laine. He is clearly the better player and you don't pass on that kind of potential just to take someone you like better. If Columbus wants Laine they will have to pay for him.
