What I'm thinking habs should try for.

COLUMBUS: 3rd overall pick and they are looking to unload Scott Hartnell salary.

MTL: 9th overall pick and 2nd round pick. Likely to add a prospect as well I'm just not too sure if it's an A level or B level.

Columbus is looking to draft a future #1 center man. With 3rd pick and obvious that would be puuliarvi makes sense they would move down and drop Hartnell salary in the process. Columbus could draft Brown or Keller with 9th pick. MTL would draft Puuliarvi and pick up Hartnell for left side.

Patches Chucky Gally
Hartnell Plecky Puuliarvi

Thoughts? What needs to be added or subtracted? Columbus is on a budget and is am advantage to drop Hartnells salary.

based on his production, hartnell is worth more than the 4.5 million cap hit he comes with. you're not getting him as a cap dump.

Hartnell can produce on any team on any line, the only reason Columbus wants to get rid of him is to sign Jones in particular and other upcoming players. He's still a good player.

Hartnall will get good value this is bad start with Galchenyuk.

I think it would be more appetizing to Columbus if it was clarkson instead.

Galchenyuk would not be involved in this deal. They would have to take the 9th pick and draft. I'd be willing to give up McCaron or Sherbak or possibly Juulsen. Maybe 2 of 3. If MTL trades Galchenyuk is this trade then they have to go look for a #1 center so it just adds another hole.

I like Hartnell but he can't skate at this pace, maybe aging, but he is 100% being exposed on his backcheck and defensive assignments. Can score and grit it out still, but defensive play, skating and salary is weighing him down.
