London Knight mark Hunter drafted him would take him over any of the d men in the draft. Arizona takes Lupul off our hands. Gets the hometown kid to help renevue.

Not enough value for the first overall Toronto needs a game changing centre start with Strome and their pick.

Matthews won't cost 10 million, and doesn't have health issues. Blood clots can be serious just ask Pascal Dupuis. This could be a reoccurring injury, all for a player on the decline. Plus if I am not mistaken free agency happens after the draft. What happens if stamkos doesn't sign in Toronto. Free agency should be plan b not plan A. Stick to the plan and rebuild properly and take the sure thing in Matthews.

I understand getting Stamkos is very appealing, but why not just do this rebuild properly? Draft Matthews and move forward with the young and highly skilled prospects we have. We have a great coach, a great veteran and leader in Laich. Why try and fast track this rebuild when it can be done properly and the Leafs become a consistent playoff team again.
