Ranger cannot pay Stepan Derek asking after the Buffalo signing of Ryan O'Reilly 7.5 million.

TOR: Derek Stepan and Keith Yandle

Ranger are not going to resign Yandle.

Woah!! Way off! Holy cow. I was reading along and thinking that for just Stepan and still Ranger pass that up as 20 other teams would offer something useful to them and then you just added in Yandle! Think about what they traded away for Yandle. And you're offering a worse package than that arguably! Then you want Stepan as well. Just so so way off. Try again. Start with your 1st next year or Nylander or Kapanen at least. Besides, Leafs are rebuilding. What good are these two players on a 5 year rebuild team now??! Jesus.

Stepan Derek is 25 and Yandle is 28 which is still young enough to be part of a rebuild. Bozak is 28 and his stats show that his point production is equal or better than Stepan Derek not to mention his salary cap hit would be at least 2.5 to 3 million less. The Rangers can't sign Stepan Derek for the money he's going to ask for and there are few teams that will be able to sign him for those dollars $$$. Yandle did not perform for the Ranger as expected and will also ask for a raise from his current 2.9 million per which again the Ranger can't afford. The Ranger will need a decent back for Lundqvist and Gardiner need a fresh start.

Rangers only have 17 players under contracts with $10,675,000 left in cap space. If Derek Stepan goes arbitration then he would get in the range of 6.5 to 7 + for 2 years. The Rangers can't afford it!

They would trade players to fit his contract. You build with Derek Stephan and Derrick Brassard as your top two centers. They would trade Yandle, or Boyle before him

Yandle contract is ending This year!
He won't resign for a cheaper price

Without those two guy there defense is weaker then at the start of last year!

@Montrealsfinest. They could get a lot back for Yandle. Even with 1year left. He would still easily get a 1st & NHL ready Dman and prospect.
