HAVE A FIRESALE IT IS TIME FOR A PROPER REBUILD
Players to trade for prospects and draft picks

-Phaneuf
-Gleason
-Reimer

After trading Phaneuf ROTATE THE CAPTAINCY on a weekly basis to build leadership then in the 2015-2016 season rotate it monthly.

Draft McDavid if Leafs win the Lottery and keep rebuilding.

It is not time to add to the Leafs. It is time to tank and do a serious rebuild and culture change.

Although these are all realistic in my opinion I respectfully disagree with you that the Leafs should start a rebuild and go for McDavid. Yes next year's draft will be incredible but the Leafs core are built to win now and the prospect how great they maybe are still a risk because they are prospects, they are not proven, they may take a year to 3 years to develop which I believe the time they don't have. The Leafs were in a favorable spot in the standings until their 8 game losing streak. The Leafs showed some potential the year before when they faced the Bruins in the playoffs. Their main reason for having the success that they had the season before was because they led the league in hits, blocked shots, fights, and ranked top 3 in penalty kill. This season the Leafs lost a lot of that quality and I believe by regaining the style the Leafs played the season before by bringing the right players through trade or free agency there is no reason but to suggest the Leafs will be a good playoff team once again.

Might as well trade kessel too if u want to do a proper rebuild he's worth a ton get some good players and picks

^Oh I forgot to ask a question. What happened to Jay McClement? I think it's a good idea the Leafs keep him. I would prefer him to be our 4th line center than Gauthier.

The LEafs core are not built to win now. they're built to just barely miss the playoffs.
They need a complete overhaul
As for McClement. Gauthier would be cheaper and why not give McClements spot to a young prospect who could benefit from the use of NHL experience?

Hell no I want the habs to finish last This year only so that we get mcdavid!

The leaf core is not going to finish that far out of the playoffs.

Reimer, Dion, etc. will not get you 1st round picks, and if they do, by the trade deadline most teams know if they will make the playoffs. There is a chance one may not, but it is a risk.
Therefore, if you do, by chance, get 1st round picks they will be lower 1st round picks. This is good for rebuilding but wasteful for trying to get McDavid.

Essentially the leafs need to trade assets that teams like Buffalo ( who I think will work incredibly hard to tank themselves), Edmonton, and Florida. That is IF they are willing to part with their 1st rounders. Not going to be easy.

Then, as a leaf fan, you have to ask should we rebuild again?
